Your customers ask ChatGPT, and under the answer there is exactly one slot.
Advertising in ChatGPT has been bookable in Germany since 31.08.2026. The slot sits under the answer, where somebody is describing what they are looking for. Whoever wants to stand there has to be set up first: two reviews come before the first delivery.
It reaches consumers
Ads run in ChatGPT Free and Go. Plus, Pro and the business plans stay ad free. If your shop sells to consumers, that is the right side of the line.
There is no second way in
There is no SEO and no editorial route to that slot. OpenAI keeps ads and answers apart. Whoever wants to stand there books it.
The setup is the same work as at Meta
A pixel in the shop, a report from your server, the same id on both paths, consent before either, plus two reviews. Anyone who has built this for Meta or Google knows the cost.
We built both paths in our own account, the pixel and the Conversions API, and walked into every trap once. Then we advertised for a night ourselves, to shop owners: about 11,800 impressions, 90 clicks, not a single enquiry. That is why the question about your customers comes before the offer.

The ads only reach Free and Go
OpenAI serves advertising to the Free and Go plans only, Plus, Pro and the business plans stay ad free. Of eight advertisers who published numbers from their own accounts up to 1 September 2026, five ended up with no conversions or almost none, and all five were selling marketing, SEO or agency services to people who work with AI for a living. The three with results sold to consumers.
We do that arithmetic before the setup: who buys your goods, and what a click may cost so that the contribution margin of an order carries it. If it does not carry it, we say so before you open an account.
Two reviews stand between you and the first impression
An ad account goes through two separate reviews, one for the advertiser and one for the account itself. The ads manager announces five to seven days for this, a second account speeds up nothing, and OpenAI says it cannot expedite a review on request either. In our own German account the second review stayed open from 1 September 2026 at 07:41 UTC until 4 September 2026 at 05:03 UTC.
We build campaign, ad and measurement while that clock runs, and read the review status over the API every day. On the day of approval the channel stands and the first campaign can go live.
There are no keywords to bid on
Steering happens through context hints, that is descriptions of the conversations and topics your offer should fit into, plus a maximum bid and the target country. In Europe delivery starts without personalisation: OpenAI names the conversation topic, a coarse location and the device type as its signals.
We write the context hints from your range, set the maximum bid from your margin and create the campaign over the API. Every script reads back before it writes, so nothing lands in the account twice.
Your channel. Our setup. If a piece is missing, we build it.
We open the ad account, take it through both reviews, build campaign, ad group and ad, set up the measurement pixel and the Conversions API, and report every day what changed inside the account.
